Lead UI Software Engineer
We are looking for an exceptional Principal Front-End Developer who possesses a solid background in computer science and a keen sense for intuitive UI/UX design. You will oversee a dynamic team of five developers and designers, creating cutting-edge web applications for the simulation and optimization of complex physical systems. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Research Scientists and Software Engineers to innovate throughout the development process—from initial concept and prototyping through to visualization, implementation, testing, and deployment. Key Responsibilities:
– Lead the design and execution of contemporary, responsive front-end web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
– Develop user-friendly interfaces tailored for complex scientific and engineering projects.
– Construct interactive data visualizations and tools enabling users to better comprehend intricate models and outcomes.
– Work closely with engineers and researchers to convert technical requirements into practical user interfaces.
– Engage in prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing for performance, security, and usability.
– Contribute actively to the full lifecycle of software development, guiding projects from concept to completion.
Required Skills and Experience:
– A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical discipline.
– Over 8 years of experience in UI software development with demonstrated leadership.
– Proficient in JavaScript or TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
– Strong experience in front-end web application development.
– A firm grasp of UI/UX design and user-centered design principles.
– Superior written and verbal communication skills.
– U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred Expertise:
– Familiarity with Java or Python.
– Experience leveraging Spring Boot, Redux, WebGL, or OpenGL.
– Proven track record in creating UI for data-rich or scientific applications.
– Knowledge of front-end testing and mocking frameworks.
– Insight into REST APIs, back-end development, and working with relational or document databases.
– Experience optimizing web applications for performance, responsiveness, and security.
– Possession of an active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
